Back in July, I found myself sitting at “a table for one at the Gratitude Cafe“. Remember that? I’ve been particularly interested in the idea of intentionally sending my gratitude out to people in my life whom I love dearly and/or have the opportunity to meet and form relationships with. I know this is important to me and I know that it has profoundly affected my life in positive ways.
My friend, and chiropractor, Dr. Stan Hom, writes a newsletter for his practice and recently wrote a piece about gratitude as well. Stan has been an incredible addition to my life and I am grateful for having met him. Authentic and genuine are two words that come to mind when talking about Stan. As part of that piece, he posted this link:
This video titled “The Science of Happiness: An Experiment in Gratitude” comes to us from Soul Pancake, a group of people who have produced a number of wonderful YouTube videos, typically centered around the beauty of our humanity. They are great! This piece comes at a pivotal moment in my life, as I continue to try my best to live a practice of gratitude. I constantly struggle to be as positive and affirming of others in my life, amidst a fast-paced, overly cynical and often negative culture.
While paying my love forward for people, I had no clue how great it would make me feel. This experiment, facilitated by the Soul Pancakers, made me smile, as once again, they tap into our humanity in a way that makes our hearts sing and our hope swell. I do feel happier when I’m intentional about gratitude…and we already know how it makes people on the receiving end of the gratitude fell.
Take the time to watch this clip…trust me, it’s 7 minutes worth watching. Such beautiful reciprocity emerges from gratitude. Send yours out…and swim in happiness!!!

Aaaah! You got me crying… again! Thank you so much for this. Despite knowing about and having people around me who continually affirm and celebrate the greatness of others around us, I have been slipping out of practice lately. I totally needed this little boost. Thank you!
I fall in and out also…it is our humanness! Thanks for always supporting my work and being an amazing friend!!!
Kirk, I am grateful for your willingness to step forward and lend a hand without being asked, just because you are aware. Not for props or recognition. Just because. Happy to call you brother (in-law).
Eriko!! Thanks for your comment. It means a lot to have such wonderful people in my life, it is what fuels me!! I’m equally glad to call you my sister!
Kirk, thank you for the shout out. It means a lot to me that I have someone like you in my life. And we are only scratching the surface… can’t wait to peruse more of your blog! Very grateful for you my friend.
